Finally, Zenith Bank succumbs to gravitational pull. We think GTB masterminded this and TSA catalyzed it.

Background
  • 'Before Before', it was easier for a Carmel to pass through the eye of a needle than for you to open an account with Zenith Bank.
  • Putting it in perspective, then, you could buy Volkswagen Golf 1 or 2 with the same amount required as minimum opening balance.
  • You can imagine our surprise when we saw the tweet above saying you can now open a Zenith account with zero naira.
Our take on the matter
  • Long before words like financial inclusion, mobile money, banking the unbanked etc. became popular words, GTB was already helping to achieve financial inclusion. We remember they started zero account opening and a lot of people especially students were able to open a bank account for the first time. Soon, other banks followed suit and now Zenith. Better to be late than never though.
  • With TSA taking government money away from banks, every kobo now matters to Zenith bank. Thanks to TSA, Zenith is now 'befriending' the masses. Chai!
Conclusion
  • What goes up must come down thanks to gravity. Either earth's gravitational pull or financial gravitational pull like the case of Zenith Bank or political gravitational pull like men of today becoming men of yesteryears. In doubt? Ask a certain Reuben Abati.
