Perhaps because the national agenda is light? Fayose says Buhari is now operating as a part-time president

“But it is doubtful if those cabals that are obviously running their own Presidency within Buhari’s Presidency will allow him to take a long vacation, probably outside Nigeria to take care of himself.

That’s why Nigerians are told every day that the President said this and that with the President neither speaking directly nor attending any official function. This is not good for the image of a country like Nigeria that is struggling to get out of economic recession.

It is only when the President is seen and heard physically that Nigerians will believe that they are not being ruled by a part-time and ceremonial President, whose powers are being exercised on his behalf by some cabal" - Ayo Fayose, Governor of Ekiti State

Background
  • President Buhari has not been seen in public in recent times except on Fridays for Jumat service.
Our take on the matter
  • Two weeks ago, Mr Lai Mohammed, the minister for Information while commenting on the president's absence at the FEC meeting said it was because the agenda was light.
  • Mr. Fayose, if the agenda is light, you don't expect the president to be overworking himself.
Conclusion
  • Part time or no part time, Mr. Buhari still remains the president. Besides, the most important thing is result. Are we getting the desired results? Are we seeing any CHANGE at all? This should be the focus of discussion.
